MMR is a vaccine given to children for protection against the viruses of Measles, Mumps as well as Rubella. MMR Vaccination is advised to have two doses of the vaccine for everyone.
First MMR vaccine is supposed to be given between 12-15 months and next between 4-6 years of age.
1. Persons with severe allergic reactions to gelatin, the antibiotic neomycin.
2. Persons taking Steroids or having Cancer.
3. Persons suffering from HIV or AIDS or Leukemia.
4. Sick or ill persons should wait for the MMR vaccine till complete recovery.
5. Persons having blood disorder or has recently received a blood transfusion.
A few common side effects are mild reactions, low fever, or a mild rash. Rarely, a child has swelling in the glands of his neck or cheeks. These problems occur usually within 12 days of being vaccinated, if at all. One is more likely to experience these symptoms after the first dose.
